I allow selective sunshine to filter through my canopy

I've been hurt

I've resprout

Despite being pruned, I will bloom more beautifully

I have an abundance of resources

I'm ready to serve

Even shallow roots anchor deeply

Nutrient-dense soil supports my growth

Resisting drought

Creating cavities for selective habitat

Storing carbon for the future

I believe in a bright tomorrow

Creating nesting sites

Marveling at the beauty of feathered friends

Flowering, pollenating and spreading seed

My foliage creates refuge from the scorching sun

I am, and always will be, regenerative

Even when a branch breaks

I remain whole

Wildfires thicken my bark

Allowing for rebirth and renewal

I adapt over time

I evolve to survive

The only things constant is change

In my DNA I store complex information

I have a story to tell

My bud scars are deep

My markings are permanent

I wouldn't have it any other way

I have needs

Today, they feel different

It's time for reflection

So, I ground myself

I shed leaves to get lighter

I dance with the wind to gain clarity

I extend my roots deeper to find balance

I welcome the warmth of summer

I embrace this new season
